I get commissions for purchases made through links on this site. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

What that means in practice

Some links here go to retailers who pay a commission if you buy something after following them. The price you pay is the same either way — the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not out of your pocket.

Every link of that kind is marked (paid link) right where it appears, not just here. If a link is not marked, it earns nothing.

Which programmes

Amazon Associates, and affiliate networks including Awin, Impact and AvantLink, which represent outdoor and travel brands directly. Which programme a given link belongs to does not change whether a product is recommended.

What it does not influence

Products are chosen on the criteria described in how we test, before commission rates are looked at. Where two products are genuinely close, the one that pays more does not win by default — and where the better product pays nothing at all, it still gets the recommendation.

Nothing on this site is a paid placement. No brand has paid for coverage, seen an article before publication, or been given any control over what it says.

Free products

At the time of writing, no product covered here was supplied free by a brand. If that ever changes, it will be stated on the specific article, in the article, not only here.
